What We Can Do For You
The key to treating Dry Eye Disease is discovering its cause--and that is different for everyone. The American Academy of Optometry has identified at least twelve different factors that can lead to Dry Eye Disease. At Smart Eye Care, we work with you to develop a treatment plan that addresses the causes as well as the symptoms.
A Dry Eye consultation involves a deep analysis of the tear film, meibomian glands, eyelid margins, cornea, and more. We use state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment to image the meibomian glands, tear meniscus, tear breakup time, and corneal staining. We use this data to diagnose the type of Dry Eye present and develop a personalized treatment plan.
Dry Eye Consultation
These treatments provide a deep cleaning of eyelids and eyelashes to eliminate biofilm (blephartitis) and demodex. Treatment is performed by a trained professional in as little as 15-30min with no post-procedure down time. Results are immediate and very effective.
Zest / Blephex
This treatment uses a combination of heat and massage to unclog the meibomian glands of the eye. Clogged meibomian (oil) glands often cause an unstable tear film and contribute to Dry Eye Disease. A Lipiflow treatment is painless, takes 12-15 minutes, and has no post-procedure downtime.
Lipiflow / TearCare
Focused IPL treatment targets underlying inflammation that is often a root cause of Dry Eye Disease and Ocular Rosecea. Initial treatment is often done in a series of 4 with maintenance therapy every 4-12 months.
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL)
Scleral contact lenses are a specialty lens designed to cover the entire corneal surface and provide constant hydration to the eye. They are a complement to dry eye treatment plans because they correct vision and provide relief, unlike other soft contact lenses.

UPNEEQ® is a prescription eye drop that temporarily improves droopy eyelids, or ptosis, with a single daily dose. While you won’t get the more dramatic results you can expect from a surgical blepharoplasty, patients see an average of about 1 mm of lift in their upper eyelid after the first use—just enough to make a noticeable difference.

Sometimes adjunct dry eye therapy is needed with in-office treatments to achieve best results. This therapy may include amniotic membranes, serum tears, or a prescription medication (i.e. Restasis, Xiidra, Cequa, Xdemvy, Miebo, or Eysuvis).
